Welcome to the website for

The City of Uhrichsville

From the Mayor

With a population of a little more than 5,300, a rich history and located within less than a two-hour proximity to three major metropolitan areas, Uhrichsville is a wonderful place to call home.

Myself, a native of Uhrichsville, my wife Stephanie and I have chosen to raise our two children here and are now living in our forever home. I have cherished the town I grew up in and in turn have dedicated myself to serving our community.

There are not too many communities where you can literally have it all: a beautiful setting in one of Ohio’s most vibrant regions with access to educational and employment opportunities, outdoor recreational activities and great places to dine.

We are situated in the Tuscarawas River Valley basin and have many opportunities for outdoor recreation; You can bring your family to beautiful Uhrichsville Water Park; You can rent or buy a kayak at Stillwater Outfitters and paddle or fish the Stillwater Creek to the Tuscarawas River and beyond. You can walk the Panhandle Passage Trail or hop in a golf cart at the Big Ben Golf Course. You can take sewing classes at the Pindrop Shop or stop at the 311 Wine Room for music, wine and small plates.

Uhrichsville established in 1866 and was once recognized as the “Clay Capital of the World” having been the home to thirty-two clay and brick plants. Superior Clay continues to operate and happens to be one of several international companies located in our city.

So what makes our city so special? The people. A number of businesses are owned by citizens who have grown up in this city and have continued to call it their home. A few hometown citizens have chosen to restore several downtown business buildings and are all in as we continue our efforts in community and economic development to solidify our city as one of the best small towns.

The City of Uhrichsville is committed to working with the community to ensure that the city effectively serves its citizens, neighborhoods, and businesses to help all succeed while nurturing our strong sense of place. We pursue ways to stay healthy and connected. We encourage volunteerism and celebrate when we find ways to get things done without a huge expense to taxpayers. We look out for one another. We have fun. We welcome you to visit us and if we’re lucky, you’ll decide to stay.

Respectfully,
Mayor Mark Haney
